There is only one way to get through this. Together.

For UNH and our members, the unprecedented COVID-19 outbreak has proved an intense and challenging time. On behalf of our members, staff are hard at work advocating for funding and policies to meet the needs of NY neighborhoods. UNH is working closely with our government and coalition partners to elevate the voices of settlement houses on five major issue areas:

  • Housing
  • Food
  • Family Supports
  • Workforce
  • Mental Health

Right now, we are particularly concerned about the hundreds of thousands of children and teens who will be without summer activities in New York City due to devastating budget cuts.

In the past two months, we have hosted a record number of virtual peer groups allowing settlement house staff to connect, plan, and support one another. Staff are sharing stories from the front-lines and senior leaders are voicing concerns about nonprofit sustainability. We are uniquely positioned to report on how COVID-19 is affecting our communities, and we will continue to share what we know with key decision makers.

Thanks for stopping by to check in. We ask you stay safe and stay tuned as we continue to develop this page. We hope it will serve as an online hub where both UNH members and supporters can access valuable resources.
