UNH seeks a Manager of Institutional Giving.

THE POSITION
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Manager of Institutional Giving will research prospects, identify new and steward current relationships with corporate and foundation partners, prepare and submit letters of inquiry, grant proposals, budgets, final reports, and develop various communications. This person will be responsible for setting goals, planning strategy, and developing and managing a robust pipeline of corporate and foundation relationships.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the organization’s Executive Director, Finance Director, and program staff to identify, cultivate, and solicit gifts from foundations and corporations,
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with institutional contacts,
- Research prospects to identify new sources of support and develop and manage tracking tools and a robust prospect pipeline,
- Lead the development of proposals and reports for foundation and corporate funders and manage the collaborative editing process with staff,
- Work closely with the senior director to set annual revenue goals for institutional giving, measuring progress and adjusting work plans as needed to successfully meet targets,
- Take a leadership role in the Annual Benefit for corporate fundraising prospects, creating and implementing strategies to increase revenue, further engage event attendees and deliver clear, compelling event messaging,
- Create, implement, and manage communications to institutional contacts,
- Manage reporting as required, and conceive of, propose, and implement additional stewardship efforts for institutional donors,
- Appropriately manage internal and external relationships around grant outcomes and results to meet or exceed donor expectations and manage and lead responses in situations when outcomes are not achieved,
- Collaborate with the team on funders newsletters/communications, and to promote on-site tours/meetings,
- Maintain records related to institutional fundraising,
- Support the tracking, monitoring and reporting of donor interactions in the fundraising database,
- Serve as a member of a small development and communications team, and support and participate in department projects as needed.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE SHOULD DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Significant track record of success in institutional fundraising,
- Commitment to understanding and supporting the mission and goals of the organization
- Knowledge of the New York City philanthropic and human services community,
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve goals,
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships,
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational and analytical skills, and project management skills,
- Ability to serve as a spokesperson in the philanthropic community and raise the organization’s visibility,
- Working knowledge of donor management software,
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
$80,000 to $90,000 annual salary depending on candidate experience. UNH offers a competitive benefits package as well as excellent medical, dental and retirement plans, and is committed to professional growth within the organization. Note that UNH offices are currently operating on a hybrid schedule. Applicants must have an ability to commute to our office in Lower Manhattan, as well as the ability to travel throughout New York City during business hours and perhaps to other parts of New York.
