Sunnyside Community Services
$50,000 to $55,000
Sunnyside Community Services (SCS) is a multiservice, community-based organization serving New York City with a focus on western Queens — an area that is home to a uniquely diverse, predominately immigrant population and many low-income families. Established as a small senior center in 1974, SCS began offering licensed home care services in 1979 introduced youth services in 1983, and formalized immigrant services in 2015. Today we provide a full range of human services to 16,000 individuals each year including children, youth, adults, and seniors. Our mission is to enrich lives and strengthen communities through services and engagement for individuals of all ages, beginning with those most in need. We envision diverse, inclusive, and caring communities where all people thrive and reach their fullest potential.
We are looking for a Grant Writer to help secure additional funding to meet the growing needs of our community. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about multiple facets of the grants process, from writing proposals to budget development, and be a vital part of a mission-driven non-profit that has been a part of the community’s fabric for nearly 50 years. SCS offers a hybrid work schedule and a strong benefits package, including generous paid time off.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Grant Writer will be an important part of the development team. They will be responsible for researching funding opportunities and securing grants for SCS programs. This will include preparing letters of inquiry (LOI), proposals, and reports for government, foundation and corporate prospects and current funders. They will work in close collaboration with and report to the Manager of Institutional Giving. The development department also works in partnership with program staff around proposals.
