From day one of the pandemic, settlement house staff shifted into high gear to keep their neighbors safe, healthy, and connected. To remain at the sides of our members, UNH also shifted to a higher gear. We increased our opportunities for settlement house staff to come together to problem-solve and amplify our collective voice. We coordinated more peer groups and meetings than the past few years combined, restructured and revitalized our professional development programs, and designed new wellness initiatives to help staff manage the emotional toll of responding to communities in trauma. Our work to create these spaces makes it possible for staff to talk through common issues, foster meaningful connections with colleagues, and find strength in numbers. Your tax deductible donation to United Neighborhood Houses will strengthen New York’s communities. With your support, we will continue to work with our member organizations, which are local nonprofits providing meals, after school activities, employment training, arts workshops, child care, mental health counseling, and many other essential services to over half a million New Yorkers each year.
