Help us keep

settlement houses

strong.

Our network includes over 20,000 staff who work to improve the lives of 765,000 people through life-changing programs at 45 settlement houses across New York.

Please join us in helping keep this vital workforce strong and connected by making a donation today.

Creating unity and opportunity for staff in our network.

From day one of the pandemic, settlement house staff shifted into high gear to keep their neighbors safe, healthy, and connected. To remain at the sides of our members, UNH also shifted to a higher gear. We increased our opportunities for settlement house staff to come together to problem-solve and amplify our collective voice. We coordinated more peer groups and meetings than the past few years combined, restructured and revitalized our professional development programs, and designed new wellness initiatives to help staff manage the emotional toll of responding to communities in trauma. Our work to create these spaces makes it possible for staff to talk through common issues, foster meaningful connections with colleagues, and find strength in numbers. Your tax deductible donation to United Neighborhood Houses will strengthen New York’s communities. With your support, we will continue to work with our member organizations, which are local nonprofits providing meals, after school activities, employment training, arts workshops, child care, mental health counseling, and many other essential services to over half a million New Yorkers each year.

"In my most difficult moments, I can reach out to my UNH colleagues for comfort and kind words. That's what keeps me going through all of this."

"In UNH's Aging Issues Group, I am surrounded by people who validate my work and create a space for healing and connection.”
— Shyvonne Noboa, Division Director for Senior Services, Sunnyside Community Services

"UNH's Leading For Impact gave me a new conviction for my work and a supportive network of emerging leaders, like myself, to learn from.”
— Amanda Brown, Program Director, BronxWorks

"The Senior Leaders Peer Group gives me a chance to be nurtured and nourished by the ideas and experience of my colleagues.”
— Mary Abbate, Associate Executive Director, Queens Community House
