We encourage and coach New Yorkers and settlement house staff who work with them to find ways to ensure their voices are heard, opinions are acted on, and have the tools and access to drive community change. Every voice matters and UNH lifts up those voice for civic and community change on a neighborhood, city, state, and national level.
UNH’s Institute for Empowered Aging develops innovative practices, advocacy campaigns, research and tools that promote neighborhood resources designed to empower older people, positioning them as community builders, community catalysts, and change agents for the greater good.
The UNH Award for Achievement in Civic Advocacy recognizes and celebrates one exceptional settlement house staff member who has demonstrated significant commitment to and accomplishment in the area of civic advocacy and engagement through outstanding contributions to their community.
