Job Description

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation has an opening for one (1) Full-time School Base – SYEP Education Coordinator in the Career and Education Division for the Summer Youth Employment Program.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Oversee all aspects of the SYEP School Base Program at Franklin K Lane High School and Thomas Jefferson High School, for participants (14 - 21 years old) ensuring that youth have a fun, safe and professional work experience.
  • Build and support effective relationships with all CHLDC Divisions for the purpose of leveraging the strengths of School Base SYEP youth
  • Oversee successful program enrollment, ensuring all documentation is current and accurate to DYCD regulations.
  • Plan and implement weekly program orientation for participants; Younger Youth 10 hours, Older Youth 15 hours
  • Recruit, hire, supervise and evaluate collaborative School Base team, to ensure successful program implementation.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures, maintaining a safe learning environment, prioritizing the safety of participants.
  • Ensure all service projects have supplies to properly administer, their program goals.
  • Ensure all program documentation is accurately recorded in funder database in an accurate & timely manner.
  • Ensure all aspects of the School Base – SYEP maintains compliance with DYCD rules and regulations.
  • Collaborate with school Principals and DOE staff to produce an enriching program experience
  • Provide occasional conflict resolution between program facilitators and youth, with counseling from Internship Programs Director.
  • Attend all DYCD required meetings/events
  • Create of environment of high expectations for participation and effort.
  • Build positive relationship with participants, providing an example for a positive role model for participants.
  • Represent the agency professionally to all stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the creation of a cohesive and effective staff team.
  • Demonstrate commitment to leadership development community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.
  • Other assignments, as requested.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least three (3) years of related experience working in the field of youth development or youth workforce development and developing project-based learning experiences.
  • Excellent attention to detail and office procedures. 
  • Bilingual/Spanish fluency preferred.
  • Experience in DYCD programs.
  • Must clear DOE fingerprinting and background authorizations before they can work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position works in a school setting during the workday. This role routinely uses standard equipment such as computers, walkie-talkies, cellphones, photocopiers, and standard equipment such as safety scissors and tape dispensers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL:  Travel required

SUPERVISION:  Reports directly to Director of Internship Programs.

Salary Information

$40,000 - $45,000 annually, dependent upon experience. We offer a very competitive benefits package.
