Job Description

BronxWorks is hiring a Social Worker in the Children & Youth Department for its Webster Campus Community School Program.



  • Provide direct services to clients including engagement, intake, assessment, service plan development, referral, advocacy, counseling and exit summaries.
  • Monitor and document client progress towards service plan goals; document all interactions with, or on behalf of, clients.
  • Provide group counselling as required by Director.
  • Maintain familiarity with agency and community resources.
  • Coordinate client services with mental health, medical, employment, educational, child care and other social service providers.
  • Conduct home visit and field visit as required.
  • Conduct regular case conferences with clients and service providers as required.
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration among staff.
  • Develop and build relationships with parents and families of program participants.
  • Ensure a physically safe environment for participants.
  • Attend internal and external agency meetings and trainings.
  • Submit reports as required including monthly reports to supervisor.
  • Coordinate with Community School Director and School Personnel to identify chronically absent students and families in need of mental health services.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling as needed for identified caseload.
  • Create and maintain case records including intake, biopsychosocial, and treatment/service plan and case notes.
  • Facilitate student workshops on various social/emotional topics such as building self-esteem, stress management, healthy relationships/teen dating violence, bullying, etc.
  • Collaborate with Community School Director and Parent Coordinator to develop and facilitate workshops, events and community school forums for families.
  • Facilitate workshops for teachers around social and emotional learning.
  • Conduct push-in sessions and provide support around behavioral concerns in the classrooms as deemed necessary.
  • Maintain and build partnerships with outside agencies to enhance programming.
  • Plan special events and other innovative programming with school and CBO staff.
  • Assist with supervision of children and/or provide coverage as needed (on or off-site).
  • Be an active member of the attendance, community school, and school leadership team and/or committee.



  • Master’s Degree in Social Work.
  • New York State Licensure (LMSW) required within six (6) months of hire date.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a youth development program and 1 year of experience working in a school setting.
  • Engaging personality and detailed orientated skills are essential.
  • Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.
