BronxWorks is hiring 1 Program Specialist/ Tenant Services Coordinator for the Supportive Housing Department.


The Program Specialist/Tenant Services Coordinator is responsible for creating and providing on-site services that are focused on enriching tenants’ housing experiences and promoting a positive community lifestyle by adding additional supportive programming to the comprehensive array of services provided by BronxWorks social service team.


Working in collaboration with BronxWorks staff, the Program Specialist/Tenant Services Coordinator manages the set up and tear down of all meetings, special events and groups, provides escorts for trips into the community, conducts resident outreach and is an integral part of the social service team. The Program Specialist/Tenant Services Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the monthly tenant services calendar and newsletter as well as for the maintenance of informational boards throughout the building.

The Program Specialist/Tenant Services Coordinator is also responsible for assisting residents with vocational and employment goals and will be trained in the Supportive Employment model. This aspect of the job involves canvassing in the community for employment and volunteer opportunities, assistance with resume drafting as well as escorts to scheduled interviews.


This is a dynamic position that welcomes individual talent and creativity.  The successful candidate will be detail-oriented with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, strong writing skills proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel & Publisher, and be able to work independently and collaboratively.



  • Provide direct services to clients, including intake, engagement, assessment, referral, service plan development, advocacy, counseling, exit summaries and follow-up.
  • Monitor and document client progress toward service plan goals.
  • Conduct home visits and other field work, as required.
  • Document all interactions with, or on behalf of, clients.
  • Provide general clerical support, including filing, faxing, word processing, typing, photocopying and sorting mail.
  • Answer telephones, take messages and direct calls to the appropriate parties.
  • Report to, and meet with, supervisor on a monthly basis .
  • Complete program reports on a monthly basis or more frequently as required.
  • Assist with special projects as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.



  • BA/BS preferably in the social sciences (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services)
  • MSW- preferred but not required A minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.



  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.


Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory.
