PROGRAM OVERVIEW: Jobs Plus is a part of Henry Street Settlement’s Education and Employment Services, a $10M division providing a continuum of services from early childhood education through adult workforce programs designed to assist individuals in obtaining the skills necessary for lifetime self-sufficiency. Jobs Plus is a placed based workforce development program helping NYCHA residents find viable employment and connect to other support services. Once employed, the Jobs Plus team continues to work with participants to maintain employment and build careers. The Jobs Plus Outreach and Engagement Coordinator serves a critical role by ensuring we are engaging with the residents we are onsite to serve.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of two (2) – three (3) years relevant experience required; experience conducting outreach highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; will consider Associate’s degree or HSD with additional work experience
  • Sensitivity towards, and ability to engage a diverse population including, but not limited to, NYCHA/Public Housing Residents, LGBTQ youth and other low-income, high-barrier-to-employment populations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure, adhering to funder deadlines and metrics.
  • Good judgment and problem solving ability, experience providing case management a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and pay attention to details to ensure client files are audit-ready.
  • Strong social media and computer skills including knowledge of database programs, MS Office Suite including advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to work some evenings and one weekend day per month.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for all outreach and engagement activities ensuring that the program meets contractual obligations for new member enrollment.
  • Supervise Community Coaches who are responsible for conducting community outreach.
  • Create schedule for Outreach team, and participate in, weekly flyering, tabling, canvassing and other in-building and community based outreach activities.
  • Network with community partners in order to create recruitment pipeline of target members.
  • Collaborate with HSS’ Marketing Department to create flyers and other marketing materials; ensure monthly client facing calendar is created as well as flyers for each event and service.
  • Update social media accounts to reflect upcoming recruitment and program events to connect with target population.
  • Hold regular group and one-on-one Program Orientations to engage clients in services, and assess clients for potential barriers.
  • Assist prospective participants in completing multiple intake forms, outlining their reasons for seeking employment, barriers that may have hindered past efforts to achieve goals.
  • Connect members to necessary services both within and outside the agency for barrier reduction when indicated.
  • Administer and score TABE tests as part of intake criteria when appropriate.
  • Complete weekly and monthly reports on activities and outcomes.
  • Complete basic reporting requirements including, but not limited to case notes, client tracking, and pre- and post-tests
  • Attend staff meetings, workshops and conferences as requested
  • Travel to multiple service sites within the division and to partner agencies
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
