JOB SUMMARY: The Operations Manager will work closely with the Capital Projects & Facilities Director to assist with the management of day-to-day capital projects management, facilities management, and organizational operations at Grand St Settlement.



-Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, Business, or Economics preferred

-Must be an excellent writer and proofreader, highly-organized, detail-oriented, and coachable

-Ability to think strategically about investments, partnerships, and long-term goals

-Experience with billing and accounts payable, invoicing, requisitions, public funding reporting, and managing project costs and budgets a plus

-Spanish or Chinese speaker a plus

-Experience in customer service a plus



-Liaises with financial consultant to handle day-to-day accounts payable issues and invoices

-Brainstorms, researches, and drafts processes to simplify, systematize, and streamline business operations such as billing and AP, purchasing and inventory, lease management, contracts, and IT


Essex Crossing

-Assists in the administration of ordering, invoicing, scheduling, receiving, and installing equipment and furniture at the construction site at Essex Crossing (April 1-July 1)

-Assists with setting up new utility and maintenance contracts

-Plans and leads tours of site during and after construction

-Manages space rentals at Essex Crossing community center and social enterprise café


80 Pitt St.

-Crafts grant and capital funding request (narratives and budgets) for GSS’s real estate related projects

-Represents Grand St. Settlement at strategic community meetings

-Solicits estimates and quotes to back up budgets

-Performs daily checks of the facilities at 80 Pitt St. and eventually at Essex Crossing and manages and follows up on repair requests as necessary

-Writes monthly reports to funders updating on the progress of renovation at 80 Pitt St.

-Assists with scheduling relocations, moves, and desk space during 80 Pitt’s renovation

-Assists with setting up new utility and maintenance contracts

-Manages space rentals at 80 Pitt St. 


-Prepares updates for executive team and Board members and assists with the creation of presentations that tell a compelling story about the progress of GSS’s capital projects

-Special assignments and projects as needed

Salary Information

$5,000 per month for three months as a consultant, with the intent to transition to full time with excellent benefits after July 1
Schedule: M-F, generally 9-5, some attendance night meetings as needed
