BronxWorks seeks a Director of Training and Education to oversee all department functions and provide customized training to over 850 direct care, management and administrative staff of a settlement house model social service agency which provides food, shelter, education and support to residents of the South Bronx.


  • Identify and assess current and future training needs through job analysis, population assessment, career paths, annual performance appraisals and consultation with managers
  • Develop and implement an agency-wide training and development plan that addresses need and expectations of all BronxWorks departments
  • Oversee and participate in New Employee Orientation Onboarding Program comprised of in-person and online trainings
  • Develop outcome measures and regularly evaluate program effectiveness
  • Manage training department budget
  • Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices
  • Manage all internship programs including MSW One Year Residency Program (OYR)
  • Serve as point of contact with social work graduate schools and is responsible for overseeing the application and placement process for the BronxWorks intern program
  • Supervises and collaborates with the training coordinator in organizing and scheduling monthly training to meet staff needs and accomplish training goals outlined in the strategic training plan
  • Identifies internal subject matter experts, mentors other staff to deliver training, and schedules external training consultants.
  • Tracks training compliance and collaborates on developing engaging online training materials using Cornerstone LMS.


  • Master’s degree in Human Services, MSW preferred
  • Three years of training experience
  • Able to work efficiently with PowerPoint, Word, Excel
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems preferred


  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.

Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory.
