JOB DESCRIPTION:  The Changing Futures Program is looking for a dedicated Child and Family Psychiatrist or LPNP to join our team. We’re looking for a compassionate, devoted individual who enjoys working with children, teens and families struggling with symptoms associated with Child Sexual Abuse, Domestic Violence and other Traumas. The successful candidate will attend once a month for assessment and follow-up medication management sessions with clients. The successful candidate will also work alongside Child and Family Therapists and Community Coordinators to provide the best services to the families in the community.
  • Conduct initial patient psychiatric evaluations and take detailed medical histories, diagnosis and prescribe medication, maintain case records, progress notes, medication management and complete monthly statistics.
  • Diagnose patients based on symptoms and prior medical treatment.
  • Provide the patient’s therapist feedback and findings so the information can reflect in the current treatment plan. Provide clients support as they discuss the treatment plans.
  • Treat psychiatric conditions using a conservative approach, which could include CBT
  • Other duties as assigned: included but limited to community outreach and participant advocacy
  • Other duties as assigned
  • MD or LPNP with considerable experience and/or related graduate degree
  • NYS license
  • At least 3 years of clinical experience with children and families
  • Experience providing medical services to trauma, domestic violence, and sexual abuse survivors
  • Demonstrable ability to connect with and provide support for children
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required
  • Experience with foster families/child welfare a plus
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  • Flexibility to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

Salary Information

Supervision: Changing Futures Program Director
Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
Salary: $195 - $200/hour
