OVERVIEW: The Broome Street Academy Charter High School will prepare our young people for post-secondary success that leads to positive life outcomes. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as a liaison between the Academy and BSA caregivers to support community involvement
  • Develop and implement with Dean of Culture a robust plan of action to enhance caregiver involvement in Broome Street Academy and in the college application process
  • Develop and implement a variety of caregiver and community engagement opportunities including, but not limited to: Caregiver meetings, caregiver workshops, volunteer opportunities, caregiver/teacher conferences
  • Work with school staff to plan, execute and conduct outreach for school events including, but not limited to: school dances, holiday celebrations, informational meetings, award ceremonies
  • Manage school calendar of events
  • Work in collaboration with the Director of Admissions to translate documents, represent the Academy at high school fairs, to plan and execute Open House events, and to assist the caregivers and students in the enrollment/matriculation process
  • Support the Social Services team on the field to ensure that families and students are supported and connected to the necessary resources
  • Attend weekly attendance meetings to support student growth and enhance student involvement and engagement
  • Assist in special projects, as assigned
  •  Serve as the Academy representative at all meetings of any organization that is set up by the caregivers that will help support the educational and social development of the students
  • Participate in any activities or processes initiated either by the caregivers or the Academy that work to fulfill the mission

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree and significant experience with community development in an urban setting required
  • Bilingual required (English and Spanish)
  • Excellent written and oral skills required
  • Excellent computer skills (especially MS Office) required
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of the principles of youth development
  • Excellent demonstrated organizational skills
  • High energy and willingness to work in a fast paced, results driven environment

Salary Information

FTE: 40 hrs/Week
