Child Abuse Prevention, Intervention and DetectionUNH works to strengthen settlement house child abuse prevention programs with funds provided by Hedge Funds Care, an initiative of the hedge fund industry. Hedge Funds Care was formed in 1998 to bring the hedge fund industry together to prevent child abuse and neglect, and provide effective treatment to those who have survived the trauma of abuse. UNH provides Hedge Funds Care with technical assistance and staff training for settlement house grant recipients. The Columbia University School of Social Work monitors progress of grantees through periodic data collection and a year-end evaluation. They also provide consultation related to conference planning and grant selection. The new Directory of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Resources is now available as a pdf document (to view a pdf document, download Adobe's free Acrobat Reader.) The Directory is designed to provide New York City settlement house staff working with children comprehensive information on advocacy organizations and agencies for child abuse/neglect prevention and treatment services in New York City. For further information, please contact Doris Schwartz, Executive Director, Hedge Funds Care at (212) 967-0322, ext. 346 or dschwartz@unhny.org. |
