Civic Education and Voter Mobilization

UNH's advocacy goal in civic education and voter mobilization is:

  • To create an effective voter registration and education campaign throughout the UNH system to increase civic participation.

As part of its nonpartisan voter mobilization campaign, UNH has prepared a comprehensive guide, Voting in New York City: Frequently Asked Questions. This guide answers questions about voting rights, eligibility, and logistics and explains how to handle a variety of situations at the polls.

UNH strongly believes that public information about voting is essential to a functioning democracy.

2008 Voter Education and Mobilization Guide

Increasing civic engagement and voter participation in communities across New York City is one of United Neighborhood Houses' core missions. With important state and federal elections approaching, UNH is working to ensure that our member agencies' program participants and community members are ready to vote on Election Day.

To this end, we have created a nonpartisan voter education and mobilization guide for the 2008 general election. This election guide includes information for voters regarding voting eligibility, voter registration, absentee voting, and poll site logistics as well as information for our member agencies about how to conduct nonpartisan voter mobilization activities.

If you have questions about the 2008 election guide, please contact Clara Botstein, Project Coordinator for UNH's voter mobilization campaign.
